TRIVANDRUM - The Federation of Medical and Sales Representatives Association of India (FMRAI) has given the call for a month-long relay strike by medical and sales representatives of the country from April 9 to May 8 in support of their 27-point common charter of demands.

Federation General-Secretary, D.P. Dubey told media persons here yesterday that the medical and sales representatives were facing threat to their job security with the pharmaceutical companies and various other institutions resorting to recruiting personnel in the category of casual and contractual workers.

He alleged that most of the companies were denying trade union and collective bargaining rights and not implementing various labour laws.

The employees are introducing more and more new work system and unbearable workloads. The federation has urged the federal government to convene a tripartite meeting of employees and employees in the presence of representatives of the ministries of labour and chemicals to sort out the issues.

They have also demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the black marketing and entry of spurious drugs into the market. The other demands raised by them include permanent recruitment and ensuring job security.
